Signed from Juventus last summer to lend experience to PSG both on the field and off it, the 35-year-old Brazilian has perhaps not quite lived up to his billing, but he has still impressed at right-back.

After a somewhat unconvincing start to the season, which saw Thomas Meunier challenge him for a starting berth, Alves has re-established himself as first pick, scoring once, setting up six and helping Unai Emery’s side to the best defensive record in the league.

Marquinhos completed his graduation from promising centre-back to world-class performer this season, turning in countless displays of the highest level to potentially eclipse Thiago Silva in the heart of the PSG defence.

The 23-year-old has all the attributes to become the finest in his position in the world and took another step towards that goal with a very consistent campaign. His partnership with fellow youngster Presnel Kimpembe holds great promise for the future.

Thiago Silva has admitted that he will leave PSG when his contract is up in 2020, but the 33-year-old Brazil international defender remains a force to be reckoned with in Ligue 1.

On the few occasions when PSG have been rocked this season, he has been the man to lead them out of trouble, notably turning in a superb display against Guingamp, when he held the rearguard together when it threatened to disintegrate around him.

Perhaps past the very peak of his powers, but still a very fine defender indeed.

Like Cook, Nick Browne and Tom Westley – both of whom have been tipped to play international cricket this summer – were dismissed in the sixties, before Ravi Bopara reached the close 57 not out.Cook struggled for fluency early on after Northamptonshire captain Alex Wakely invited the home side to bat first without a toss. The England captain, who took 38 balls to hit a boundary and 42 to sneak out of double figures, was dropped on three by Rory Kleinveldt at first slip off the bowling of Azharullah as Essex made it to lunch unscathed.Browne looked far more at ease. He drove with elegance through the covers, and twice down the ground, but could have been run out by David Murphy at backward point on 10. On a placid surface, Northants’ bowling lacked potency and Browne was quick to profit, reaching his half-century from 87 balls with a typically attractive drive. By the break Cook was into his stride too, consecutively flicking and cutting Josh Cobb for fours.Shortly after lunch, however, Browne prodded half-forward at Ben Sanderson and was well caught by the diving Richard Levi at first slip. With the weather brighter – although no warmer, Cook settled in the company of Westley, sharing 80 and bringing up his 50 from 127 balls. Cook edged a pull just wide of wicketkeeper but was otherwise unperturbed – cutting beautifully and even unfurling a fine cover drive – until he was drawn into an edge by Richard Gleeson and caught at the wicket. Cook seemed as surprised as all those watching that his concentration had been broken and he had missed out on a third century of the season.Westley’s was the classiest innings of the lot. He drove on the up with rare quality and he was attractive and effective through midwicket. Three times he drove down the ground between the umpire and mid-on in reaching his fifty from 62 balls with a typically fine flick to the legside boundary, although once again a new session brought a wicket, as Sanderson – who was the pick of the bowlers – nipped one back and through his unlatched gate.From there, Ravi Bopara and Dan Lawrence played within themselves to guide Essex to stumps. There was occasional evidence of the pair’s elegance – Bopara played an insouciant flick off Sanderson before tea, as well as a fine pull off Gleeson – but few risks were taken as Essex navigated their way into a position of dominance, picking up three batting points along the way. Both batsmen survived shouts for leg before with the new ball from Azharrullah, but survived to grind the Northants bowlers down.At 6.03pm for bad light but 25 minutes later, the players returned and 2.5 more overs were bowled (still 18 balls shy of the full allocation), long enough Bopara – now looking far freer – bringing up his first half-century of the season from 125 balls with a trio of legside boundaries.Essex made one change to the team that drew at Hove last week, with David Masters making his first appearance of the season in place of Matt Dixon. Northants, without the services of Steven Crook, Rob Keogh, Rob Newton and Olly Stone through injury, and Monty Panesar, who is not yet match fit, picked the same XI that played Sussex in their rain-ruined opening fixture of the season.As Panesar’s comeback continued, the former England spinner played for Bedfordshire against a Suffolk side containing former Essex seamer Mervyn Westfield. Panesar took 3-20 from his ten overs.

A partida voltou a ficar travada até os minutos finais da primeira etapa. Foi aí que em uma jogada de bola parada Nathan, atacante do Timão, subiu mais do que a zaga tricolor e balançou a rede. Dessa forma, o time do Parque São Jorge foi para o intervalo parecendo ter mais controle da partida.

No segundo tempo, mais do mesmo. Os técnicos mexeram nos times, mas as ações continuaram travadas e a primeira boa chance da etapa veio apenas aos 25 minutos, em cobrança de falta que Rodrigo Nestor, do São Paulo, soltou a bomba, mas o goleiro Guilherme defendeu e Galeano errou o rebote.

A partir daí, o Tricolor passou a tomar conta da partida e minutos depois novamente Guilherme foi exigido, dessa vez em chute de fora da área de Maia. O jogo melhorou, mas o destino acabou sendo cruel com o arqueiro corintiano, que acabou falhando no lance que rendeu o empate ao Tricolor. Após chute despretensioso de Weverson, a bola desviou na zaga e Guilherme aceitou.

Ambos os times criaram chances para mexer no placar nos minutos finais da partida, mas a decisão da vaga para a semifinal ficará para a partida de volta, que terá o mando do Corinthians. Em caso de o empate persistir, o duelo irá para os pênaltis, em local, data e horário ainda indefinidos.

يثير البرازيلي جابريل جيسوس، قلقًا في صفوف ناديه آرسنال الإنجليزي، بشأن الإصابة التي تعرض لها قبل أيام.

وأصيب جيسوس خلال مشاركته في فوز آرسنال أمام إشبيلية بمنافسات دوري أبطال أوروبا، ليلة الثلاثاء.

وتم استبدال جيسوس في الشوط الثاني بعد أن أصيب بشد في أوتار الركبة، وفي حديثه بعد الفوز، كان واثقًا من أن الإصابة لم تكن خطيرة.

وصرّح البرازيلي حينها: “شعرت بشيء، دعنا نرى، لقد أجريت بعض الاختبارات مع الطبيب، لا يبدو الأمر بهذه الضخامة، ولكن دعونا نرى”.

مضيفًا: “سأجري فحصًا، ربما غدًا أو بعد غد، دعونا نرى كيف سيكون الأمر، لكنني متأكد تمامًا من أنه لن يكون شيئًا”.

وأشارت صحيفة “مترو” البريطانية إلى أن جيسوس يخضع لفحص اليوم الخميس، وسيتم الانتظار على مدار الـ24 ساعة القادمة لتحديد الإصابة بدقة.

ومن المقرر أن يتحدث ميكيل أرتيتا مدرب آرسنال إلى وسائل الإعلام يوم الجمعة قبل مباراة الفريق في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز مع شيفيلد يونايتد، ويوضح حالة جيسوس.

ويلتقي آرسنال وشيفيلد يونايتد يوم السبت المقبل، في إطار مباريات الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز “البريميرليج”.

علق هاني سعيد المدير الرياضي لنادي بيراميدز، على مجموعة الفريق في بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا، بعد الوقوع في المجموعة الأولى مع صن داونز ومازيمبي الكونغولي ونواذيبو الموريتاني.

وقال هاني سعيد في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “أون تايم سبورتس”: “قرعة بيراميدز في دوري أبطال إفريقيا صعبة، نعلم قوة وحجم صن داونز في السنوات الأخيرة، ومازيمبي فريق قوي جدًا خاصة في ملعبه، والفريق الموريتاني لا يُستهان به وله كل الاحترام، طالما شاركت في دوري الأبطال طبيعي أن تواجه كل الفرق”.

هل سعيد أن الأهلي ليس معكم في دور المجموعات؟ أجاب: “الاستفادة الأكبر لكرة القدم المصرية ألا يتواجد الفريقان في مجموعة واحدة، لأن من الوارد أن يتأهلا للدور المقبل، الأهلي الأقوى في إفريقيا، ولكن طالما نريد التواجد في البطولة فيجب أن يكون لدينا استعداد لمواجهة أي فريق”.

وأكمل: “هدفنا المنافسة على بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا ومستعدون لها والمشاركة ليست للتمثيل المشرف، عندما تعاقدنا مع لاعبين قبل بداية الموسم كان تركيزنا على البطولة، لأننا نعلم أن لها مواصفات معينة ولا يفوز بها الأعلى فنيًا، لكن تحتاج إلى لاعبين أصحاب خبرات وأشياء وتفاصيل كثيرة”.

وأتم: “كنا حريصين على التعاقد مع لاعبين يظهرونا بشكل مختلف في بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا بجانب أننا لدينا قوام جيد”.

Ahmed Shehzad’s fifth ODI century set it up, but Pakistan needed special innings from Fawad Alam and Shahid Afridi, who blazed an 18-ball fifty, to pull off their highest chase in ODIs and book a place in the Asia Cup final, against Sri Lanka.Afridi ransacked 59 off 25 balls, hitting seven sixes during a 69-run stand for the sixth wicket with Fawad Alam that took only 5.3 overs. They resurrected a flagging Pakistan chase, after Bangladesh had surpassed expectations to post 326 for 3, their best ODI score. The game was decided with only one ball to spare.Bangladesh’s bowling and fielding let them down – they were sloppy on the boundary and Mushfiqur Rahim dropped Afridi on 52 in the final moments – and they failed to defend 300-plus for the first time in four attempts.Shahid Afridi came out hitting and helped Pakistan pull off their highest chase in ODIs•AFPPakistan’s chase was led by Shehzad, who made 103 off 123 balls, accelerating after a sedate start and adding 105 runs for the fourth wicket with Fawad at 6.70 per over. He fell in the 39th over, and after the curious promotion of Abdur Rehman as pinch-hitter failed, only Afridi could make or break the game. The turnaround Afridi engineered had been so sudden because Pakistan had lost their way after a 97-run first wicket stand between Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez, as three wickets fell for eight runs.Unlike their bowling that fell apart, however, Bangladesh’s batting had been impeccable. For the first time since the Fatullah chase against New Zealand in November last year, every batsman’s plans worked.Anamul’s century played the central role and he made sure Pakistan were denied early wickets. Despite his reputation as a shot-maker, his 132-ball knock was chanceless, and he played second fiddle during the early stages of his 150-run opening stand with Imrul Kayes, who rode his luck to score a half-century in his comeback game. Kayes was dropped on 0 in the first over and survived a close leg-before appeal in the seventh, but he still looked for boundaries. Anamul caught up with him, and the pair laid into Pakistan during two hitting sprees.Imrul struck Afridi for two sixes over midwicket while Anamul attacked Mohammad Talha, Pakistan’s best bowler from the match against India. In the 16th over, Anamul moved from 41 to 57 with three consecutive boundaries – a six, a four and another six – all with the pull shot. It ruined Misbah’s plans because Pakistan had already lost Abdur Rehman because he bowled three beamers before he had delivered a single legal delivery.It got worse when Saeed Ajmal and Afridi struggled too, and Umar Gul was poor in the slog overs. Anamul reached his hundred in the 39th over but got out soon after. He had laid the platform and then watched Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque reach fifties, and Shakib smash 44 off 16 balls after returning from a three-match ban. Bangladesh took 121 runs off the last ten overs but even that was not enough to survive a battering from Afridi.This loss will hurt Bangladesh as much as the one against Afghanistan did and they have only pride to play for in the final league game against Sri Lanka. Pakistan, on the other hand, were deserving finalists, having clinched last-over finished against both India and Bangladesh.
