O que é o chororô?

O “Chororô” é um termo que se popularizou no futebol brasileiro, especialmente no contexto das rivalidades cariocas, após um episódio marcante na final da Taça Guanabara de 2008, entre Flamengo e Botafogo. Durante a partida, um pênalti controverso e várias expulsões geraram forte reação dos jogadores e do técnico do Botafogo, Cuca, que se sentiram prejudicados pela arbitragem.

Após a derrota por 2 a 1, os jogadores do Botafogo choraram e expressaram indignação em entrevistas, o que levou torcedores e jogadores do Flamengo a ironizar a situação, imortalizando o gesto do “Chororô” através do atacante Souza.

O primeiro tempo de foi de poucas emoções no Maracanã, mas ampla pressão alvinegra. Apesar da grande festa da torcida e ingressos esgotados, a atuação do Glorioso não foi de encher os olhos dos mais de 60.000 presentes no estádio. Mesmo com uma intensidade ofensiva do Botafogo, o Criciúma ‘fechou a casinha’ e apostou nos contra-ataques. Barboza foi destaque na etapa inicial. Almada e Luiz Henrique tiveram as melhores chances de abrir o placar, mas sem sucesso.

Os dois times voltaram sem mudanças do intervalo, e na segunda etapa, se viu o mesmo filme da primeira. O Glorioso seguiu pressionando o Tigre, mas sem conseguir quebrar a linha de defesa dos visitantes. No meio da etapa final, Artur Jorge sacou Tiquinho Soares e Eduardo, de volta aos gramados após três meses, por lesão. As substituições deram resultado, e foi justamente o camisa 9 que abriu o placar no Maracanã. Mas a euforia alvinegra não durou muito tempo. Felipe Vizeu marcou o empate em seguida. A emoção ficou para os minutos finais, o Glorioso ainda chegou a marcar o segundo gol, no último lance, mas foi anulado por toque de mão.

Charlton fans have taken to Twitter to react after they heard that Lee Bowyer was on Cardiff’s list of potential candidates to replace Neil Warnock, following the 70-year-old’s departure from his managerial post on Monday.

This isn’t a new feeling for Charlton supporters. Bowyer has already been linked with the Huddersfield job earlier in the campaign, only for the Addicks boss to declare his loyalty to Charlton – the 42-year-old did however admit that the Terriers’ offer was “tempting”.

Bowyer was also touted as a candidate to replace Stoke boss Nathan Jones.

The Charlton manager has worked wonders since stepping into the hotseat midway through last season, guiding the south Londoners into the Championship and also overseeing a respectable start to the campaign with 22 points from 16 games.

After all he’s done, it would presumably be gutting for Charlton fans to see Bowyer depart – Richard Cawley from the south London Press revealed that Cardiff ‘expect’ to appoint Neil Harris or Bowyer within 72 hours.

West Ham face a tough challenge as Sheffield United visit on Saturday, but if Manuel Pellegrini the necessary changes to his team then they could return to winning ways.

The Blades have adjusted well to the Premier League and their 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Monday put them above the Hammers in the table.

Chris Wilder has organised his team very effectively and made them difficult to break down, as evidenced by their four clean sheets from nine games – the joint-most of any team in the league.

That could be a problem for the East London outfit, who have found the target just 11 times in nine games, and despite four goals in eight league games Haller’s lack of movement has been singled out by Pellegrini as a problem.

Some fans feel that is harsh, blaming a lack of service and support for the German as the real reason behind their poor attack.

Unfortunately, he also sustained an unlucky setback and had to miss Barcelona’s last couple of games.

But if the newest reports are to be believed, Fati has now recovered and even participated in the team’s training session, which could mean that he’ll be available for selection come the weekend’s clash against Sevilla.

Upon hearing this update, many of Barcelona fans were simply thrilled about it as they couldn’t wait for the 16-year-old’s return.

Some were saying that’s it’s the “best news” they’ve heard and others were just overly excited about his comeback.

قررت اللجنة المكلفة بإدارة نادي الزمالك برئاسة اللواء المستشار عماد عبد العزيز، توفير طائرة خاصة لرحلة الفريق الأول لكرة القدم إلى الجزائر لمواجهة منافسه المولودية في دوري أبطال أفريقيا.

الزمالك يستعد لمواجهة نظيره مولودية الجزائر يوم 3 أبريل القادم، ضمن مباريات الجولة الخامسة بدور المجموعات في البطولة القارية.

It is that point of the season when the international break takes centre stage, meaning the Premier League and Championship aren’t in action for over a week.

Many clubs in these two leagues temporarily lose their players to their respective national teams and West Brom are no different.

No more than five of their squad depart the club this week having enjoyed an unbeaten start to life in the current 2019/20 league campaign.

One of those players is West Ham loanee Grady Diangana, who has been called up to the England U21 squad for the very first time – though he has had a taste of international football before with the Young Lions’ U20 team.

The 21-year-old has shined since arriving on deadline day, scoring three goals in four league matches and some Baggies supporters have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on his call-up.

One fan hopes their star winger doesn’t get injured whilst on international duty whilst others said it was fully deserved with another even claiming he has been on fire this season.

Diangana will join Aidy Boothroyd’s side for two European U21 Championship qualifiers against Turkey and Kosovo as they look to put this summer’s disappointment behind them.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have hit out at right-back Kieran Trippier for his latest quotes on the club.

The England international has expressed his disappointment at his sale, insisting that he would have liked to remain in north London.

Per The Daily Telegraph, he said: “I had a conversation with the manager, a meeting with the chairman to see what my future was and I didn’t get the impression that they wanted to keep me. It is football. It happens.​

“I tried to speak to the chairman about it and I didn’t really get an answer. I spoke to the manager about his plans and I didn’t get a yes and I didn’t get a no. So, you get the impression.​

“It’s disappointing. I gave everything for the club and I wanted to stay, I had another couple of years left, but everything happens for a reason.”

The defender made 38 appearances in all competitions last season, even playing the entire 90 minutes as Spurs lost the Champions League final to Liverpool in Madrid.

However, his season was characterised by a number of sloppy mistakes, namely a calamitous own goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

His sale netted the club £20m and, while they haven’t truly replaced him by buying another right-back, it appears that Kyle Walker-Peters is well-placed to take on the role, while Serge Aurier remains in north London.

And fans have lashed out at Trippier for his take on his exit.
